Beyond the technical journals

Abstract

Engineers and scientists can benefit by writing articles for the nontechnical media, submitting article ideas to news media editors, and appearing on radio and TV talk shows. This paper provides an overview of the media market, focusing on the publications that are interested in contributions from engineers and scientists. It discusses how to develop story ideas, contact editors, and work with professional writers and public affairs practitioners.
