Abstract
In the deliberative genre there is a complex ‘playground’ of choices to present a recommendation; a rhetorician has to determine his or her position. Relevant dimensions are the coerciveness of the recommendation and the strength of its justification, but also the presentation format, varying from prototypical narrative to prototypical argumentative. In different contexts this playground seems to be exploited in different ways and employed with different intensity. It is argued that this can best be understood in terms of different ideas about the management of the audience’s face and in terms of different concepts of rationality thatprevail in specific socio-cultural contexts.

Abstract
This paper sustains that rhetoric can be a fruitful way of practicing philosophy of language. The startingpoint is a suggestion drawn from the work of the Italian philosopher Roberto Esposito. According toEsposito, one of the main characteristics of the Italian thought is the focus on the necessary connectionbetween language and extra-linguistic world. I argue that rhetoric (intended in an Aristotelian sense), thanks to its extra-linguistic aim (persuasion), pays particular attention to this connection. This has important consequences: 1. considering speakers and listeners as essential components of speech and assigning a key position to the listener; 2. including the sphere of emotion in the fi eld of refl ection on language; 3. considering truth as a social practice; 4. considering the agonistic dimension as a constitutive element of the speech.

Abstract
Na wstępie omówiono trzy podstawowe formy organizacji materii muzycznej, zastosowane w "Orgelbüchlein" Johanna Sebastiana Bacha: chorał melodyczny (najbardziej reprezentatywny i w związku z tym nazwany chorałem typu "Orgelbüchlein"), kolorowany oraz w kanonie (rozważono rolę Andreas Armsdorffa jako potencjalnego prekursora tego typu). Poświęcono również uwagę odstępstwom od tego schematu (przede wszystkim "In dir ist Freude" BWV 615) i podkreślono szczególną rolę partii pedałowej. W głównej części artykułu przedstawiono zagadnienie związków słowno-muzycznych w kontekście „Książeczki organowej”, rekapitulując pokrótce dawniejsze obserwacje z tego obszaru badawczego (Spitta, Schweitzer) oraz wpisując tę problematykę w szerokie pole badań nad relacjami retoryki oraz muzyki. I tak zwrócono uwagę na znaczenie teorii afektów oraz teorii muzycznych figur retorycznych. Ponadto przywołano koncepcję porównania sposobu układania oracji do procesu kompozycji – ten element retoryki muzycznej okazał się najmniej oczywisty w kontekście "Orgelbüchlein", niemniej myślenie o omawianych chorałach przez pryzmat inventio, dispositio oraz elocutio wydaje się możliwe. Wreszcie przypomniano kontekst tradycji luterańskiej, która nadała sztuce muzycznej bardzo wysoką rangę, zaś na koniec przeprowadzono krótką analizę chorału "Jesu, meine Freude" BWV 610 pod kątem retoryki muzycznej.

Abstract
W artykule zanalizowano reakcje werbalne odbiorców porad internetowych w aspekcie ich wpływu na perswazyjność przekazu poradnikowego. Materiał badawczy pochodzi z dwóch portali internetowych: milionporad.pl oraz tipy.pl. We wstępie scharakteryzowano specyfikę porady internetowej oraz relacji poradniczej w internecie. Reakcje odbiorców podzielono na dwie grupy – te, które wzmacniają perswazyjność porady (podziękowanie, przykład lub obietnica zastosowania jej w praktyce, pochwała i dodatkowe porady), oraz te, które osłabiają moc perswazyjną (negowanie skuteczności zaleceń, wskazywanie błędów, posługiwanie się ironią). Osobno omówiono rolę pytań jako reakcji odbiorców porad internetowych, gdyż mogą one zarówno osłabiać, jak i wzmacniać perswazyjność tekstu poradnikowego.

Abstract
After a brief historical-methodological overview, this study is meant to prove that the theory of rhetorical genres (deliberative, judicial and epideictic), connected to that of the literary genres, offers scholars more insightful critical opportunities. The nouvelle rhétorique, applied to the analysis of rhetorical and literary genres, permits to unveil the argumentative dimension in literature. We have evaluated some passages of the Decameron and I promessi sposi [The Betrothed], two of the great classics of Italian literature, differing by historical settings, genres and contents. The two books have been analyzed from the rhetorical perspective. I promessi sposi [The Betrothed] may be interpreted as an instance of judicial genre, while the Decameron as deliberative and epideictic genres.

Abstract
The purpose of this work is to analyze the persuasion which characterizes therapeutic advice and its collaborative goal. It is observed that this type of advice seems to be more effective when it is not limited to a mere scientific demonstration, but it considers also all the interlocutor’s subjective aspects. The study is supported by examples from a little corpus of transcribed real doctor-patient dialogues, collected and analyzed in a previous research work of the author. The research examines the principal arguments, argumentative figures and silences.

Abstract
This essay analyzes the argumentative basis of the maternity debate on the main social network sites, in relation to the debate on the draft of Cirinnà bill on gay and lesbian civil partnerships in the Italian Parliament, to evaluate its congruence. The study of suasion (Eco, 1986), defined as a technique of covert persuasion, i.e., concealed and hidden (Mortara Garavelli, 2001), in relation to new media, represents “a new area of rhetoric, which deals almost exclusively with words and the act of writing in largely predetermined contexts” (Marazzini, 2001).

Abstract
The paper claims that in the online discussions on Facebook concerning veganism – a brand new social food habit in Western societies – one can observe the mixture of traditional moral and revolutionary arguments. The presence of almost-religious extremism impacts a veganism-related verbal and visual argumentation, and even violence against the vegans. From the technical point of view, in the discussions concerning the veganism the probability argument, the argument of going-beyond and the ad sacrificium argument prevail.
