“Illustruction”: Increasing safety and reducing liability exposure

Abstract

The term illustruction is used for a style of documentation that was developed at the author's company. Illustruction attempts to increase the effectiveness of owner/operator manuals by simultaneously decreasing liability exposure and increasing user safety. The author offers examples of illustruction and discusses its effectiveness and production costs.
