Does online editing promote trespassing?

Abstract

The author discusses the ethical and practical implications of online editing. He contends that the author, as owner of a document, has sole right and responsibility for any changes that are made, but that online editing transfers this authority to the editor. Suggestions are given for retaining online editing while returning authority over a document to the author.
