The olympic experience

Abstract

The author describes the use of AT&T's Electronic Messaging System (EMS), which was the communications network that linked some 50000 Olympic family members throughout southern California during the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. How EMS worked and various experiences with its use and operations are discussed.
