Drawings can communicate better

Abstract

Interchangeability and random assembly and replacement of parts depend on uniform drawing interpretation. Geometric tolerancing helps by using symbols to show relationships among part features so that a part can be accurately and economically produced. The method divides a part into a number of geometric shapes and assigns size values to each. In addition to shape, it provides a reference for feature position.
