The right way to keep laboratory notebooks

Abstract

Notebooks are legal as well as technical records. They should be kept with the ideal that someday they may have to be presented in court to support a patent or as evidence of pollution-control measures. Entries should be in ink and dated, signed, and witnessed. Organization should be chronological and changes should not obliterate the original matter.
