Illustrating the lecture: Prepared diagrams versus built-up diagrams

Abstract

Protected illustrations are often less effective than the use of a chalkboard in the classroom because of their complexity, frequent poor quality, and lack of accompanying time allowed for copying or notetaking. Progressive build-up of complex diagrams coupled with oral explanation can alleviate these faults.
