Abstract
This textbook is aimed at both students and people already on the job. Part I, “Communicating: The Nature of Communication,” provides thorough coverage of various communication problems — poor listening, nonverbal messages, language and meaning as barriers, differences in perception, and receiver hostility. Chapter 5 covers content rules (word choice) and procedural rules (methods) of communication.

Abstract
This collection is a project of the Committee on Technical and Scientific Communication of the National Council of Teachers of English and is designed for teachers of technical and business writing at two-year institutions. However, instructors at four-year institutions also will find much here that is informative and useful.
